D&G Arts Festival Partner with World Famous A Play, A Pie and A Pint

The Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival creates a brand new partnership with Oran Mor’s world famous A Play, A Pie and A Pint, bringing a show to tour Dumfries & Galloway for the first time ever.

Performing 6 shows across the region in Moffat, Dumfries and Stranraer between 23rd and 28th May, they will be bringing their fantastic new lunchtime play The Infernal Serpent, which is a modern twist on an age old story that looks at how and why we protest.

Renowned for telling stories from all over Scotland, this exciting partnership brings lunchtime theatre from world famous Oran Mor to tour the region for the first time.

For only £12 or £6 for under 26’s, the tickets for this incredible show include a vibrant 50 mins lunchtime performance, a local pie for lunch and a bottle of beer or a soft drink.

The Infernal Serpent takes you on a journey to meet Adam and Eve: devoted snake rights activists who are getting nowhere. When a charming stranger arrives with radical ideas, they’re forced to decide how far they’ll go for their cause. The Infernal Serpent puts a devilishly modern twist on an old story to consider why – and how – we protest.

Written by Dave Gerow and directed by Beth Morton, the show is presented by A Play, a Pie and a Pint in association with Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival.

After running for 17 years, the founding principle of A Play, A Pie and A Pint remain steadfast, they create a new play at lunchtime every week that lasts no more than an hour, accompanied by a pie and a pint. They worked with thousands of creatives over the years from both within Scotland and from across the world, producing work from first time and emerging writers, as well as more established playwrights, supporting directors and actors at every stage of their career.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome this world-famous, Scottish company to perform in venues across the region. It’s the beginning of a new partnership with A Play, A Pie and A Pint, which focuses on bringing world-class performance to the region and engaging local people through vibrant storytelling, supporting local food and drink industry and creating an unforgettable lunchtime experience.” Stated Melanie Purdie, Strategic & Creative Director
