After the success of Scottish Opera’s 2015 and 2016 tours, The Pop-up Opera Roadshow is back on the road in 2017 with two brilliant shows for audiences of all ages. Performed in a specially-adapted trailer, each performance is brought to life by a storyteller, two singers, musicians and a series of colourful illustrations.

A Little Bit of La bohème

A 25-minute adaptation of Puccini’s classic, La bohème. Performed by two singers, a storyteller, plus cello and harp, A Little Bit of La bohème tells the tale of four young bohemians living together in Paris; poor but happy. Puccini’s passionate and evocative music carries them from heart-stopping romance to heart-breaking loss in this adaptation of one of the world’s favourite operas.

A Little Bit of The Pirates of Penzance

A 25-minute adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedy classic, The Pirates of Penzance, featuring two singers, a storyteller, plus guitar and cello. A young man bound by an overactive sense of duty, a soft-hearted pirate king with a hopeless band of rogues at his side, a beautiful young girl, a very modern major-general and an ineffectual bevy of policemen add a plot hinging on the technicalities of having a birthday on the 29th of February and we’re just about there. What could possibly go wrong?
