The Young Promoters Group (YPG) are a collective of young people who have a passion for performing arts and seeing it becoming more diverse and accessible in our region.

The YPG was set up in October 2016 to give young people a say in programming events across the region. The group meet once a month to discuss ideas, gather information and organise who will be attending on behalf of the group at what event.

The group represent young people across the whole of Dumfries & Galloway, working with the Arts Festival and Arts Live to ensure young people’s views are heard, respected and more importantly, acted upon.

This year, the YPG have taken on even more responsibility to celebrate the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People 2018. This has given the group a unique opportunity to be even more involved in events within the festival and programme more diverse acts.

In addition to the work of the YPG, Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival also run a Support for Ambition Scheme. This scheme is a project that allows young people to apply for up to £1000 per event. This project enables young people to put on an event without the financial risk of staging it alone. This gives young people the confidence to perform without risk and gives them the chance to do what they love in a professional setting.
