Blazin’ the festival trail

One of the UK’s most exhilarating contemporary folk groups, the amazing Blazin’ Fiddles, will light up venues in Dumfries and Newton Stewart during their two-date mini-tour at this year’s festival.

Blazin’ Fiddles have been blazing a path for Scotland’s trad music scene for nearly two decades whilst showcasing the regional fiddle styles and expressions of the Highlands and Islands.

The group comprise some of the hottest contemporary fiddle players from the Highlands and Islands – Inverness’ Bruce MacGregor, Shetlander Jenna Reid, Nairn’s Rua Macmillan, and Orcadian Kristan Harvey. They are joined by Anna Massie on guitar/fiddle and Angus Lyon on piano to deliver a musically intoxicating evening for all.

From remote village halls to the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, this group of talented, energetic musicians mix solo and ensemble sets to create a unique blend of energy and sensitivity.

They are joined by Bellevue Rendezvous at Newton Stewart Cinema on Wednesday, 31 May and then by Robyn Stapleton and Claire Hastings at the Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries, on Friday, 1 June.
